Benjamin Alan Shaffer - Music Director for the Pentecostals of Deland. He loved everyone. Nobody was a stranger. Young, old, any race - he greeted everyone with a smile from his heart. Although music was his passion, his ministry was people. He taught children’s church, directed the choir and mentored young people. Wherever there was a need, Ben was in the middle of it trying to fill that need. His love and compassion for people and their needs were a big part of his heart. He believed in unconditional forgiveness. God gave him his talent for music, songwriting and singing. God used Ben to touch many lives with these talents. Ben was 4 years old when he started playing the piano. Ben was anointed! The songs he wrote were his testimony, the way God would deal with him and how God inspired his ministry.

Family was very important to Ben. He wanted us all to love each other and spend as much time together as possible. He would come up with occasions to cook for the family so we could get together to eat, play games, and most of all sing and worship. Ben’s family, his church family, and his friends: we all loved him.

Survived by his wife, Michelle and his children, McKenna, Kaiden and Mattie Jane; his parents Glenn and Sendy; his sister Jessica and brother-in-law John Riley; father-in-law Bennet and brother-in-law Nick and sister-in-law Kellie; his grandparents Luke and Irene; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, church family and friends.

The family requests that instead of flowers those who wish to express sympathy to donate to help with expenses. Donations may be made to The Pentecostals of Deland located on 1640 E Voorhis Avenue DeLand, FL 32724.

Viewing will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Lankford Funeral home in Deland. All family and friends are welcome to stop by the Shaffer home between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm for refreshments and fellowship.

A Celebration of Life “Home Going” Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, 4:00 pm at The Pentecostals of Deland located on Voorhis Avenue. “Come expecting a Move of God”
