Aurelia Hines Melvin, 91, formerly of Yonkers, NY went home to the Lord on September 18, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A wake service will be held on Tuesday, September 28th between 5-7 PM at Lankford Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Peters Church on Wednesday, September 29th at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at Lebanon Cemetery located in Pavo, GA.

Aurelia was born on July 3, 1930, in Pavo, Georgia and was the fifth child out of eight children

born to Willie & Anna Maria Hines.

She Married William W. Melvin on September 15, 1955, in St. John’s Church, Valdosta, GA. He predeceased her. Aurelia was a well-known entrepreneur in her adopted hometown of Yonkers, NY where she owned a successful cocktail lounge for several years before eventually retiring to Florida.

She is survived by her children; Leigh Anne McMahon (Patrick, YPD Ret.) Cathy Galotti and Christopher Melvin (Dianne, both YPD Ret.)

Aurelia was most proud of her beloved grandchildren: Christian, Jeffrey, Kyla, Kate, Julie and Amanda and her great-grandchildren: Grady, Kennedy, Sloane and Saoirse.
