Obituary of Grace House
Grace Moore House, 94, of Deland, Florida passed away on September 4, 2017, at Halifax Health Hospice of Orange City, Florida. She was born on April 26th, 1923.She married Dr. E. Lawrence House on February 6, 1943 and they celebrated for 58 wonderful years together. Larry and Grace raised two sons, Stephen Lawrence and David Ambrose. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Grace faithfully cared for her family and friends through her delicious cooking and baking.She also loved to entertain and her sweet, southern hospitalityshined through each event she planned. Such a creative woman in so many ways, she enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, cake decorating, flower arranging and crafting.
Living up to the full meaning of her name, Grace was a woman of strong faith. She was a long time member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Deland and served on many committees, including the Altar Guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband E. Lawrence House and her son, Stephen Lawrence House.
She is survived by her son, David Ambrose House; daughter in law, Gerri Nesler (Tim); brother, Jesse Altman Hand; fivegrandchildren, Suzanne Renee Thomas (Clint), Bradley David House (Sarah), Shelby Leigh House, Claude House, Peter House and two great grandchildren, Lakin Grace Thomas and Benjamin Lawrence House.
Services will be held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Deland on Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Deland Memorial Gardens with a short prayer service. All friends and family are invited for a celebration of her life in the Canterbury House reception hall at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Grace requested that donations be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church’s Altar Guild of Deland orHalifax Health Hospice of Orange City. The family appreciates these donations in honor of our amazing Grace!
