Obituary of Retta Dykes
Mrs. Retta Dykes (Sizemore) went to be with her Lord peacefully on March 23, 2017 in DeLand, Fl at the age of 83. Born in November 1932, Retta was the fifth born of eight in Worth Co. Georgia. She was raised on a farm her Aunt and Uncle, after losing both parents by eight years old. At the age of 19 Retta married Mr. Willis H. Dykes in Quincy Florida. Soon after they welcomed two sons, Jimmy L. Dykes in 1952 and then Tommy E. Dykes in 1954.
Throughout her lifetime, Retta was blessed beyond measure. From surviving a near death experience, at a young age to being healed by the Lord through her undying faith, Her her greatest blessing of all was to have a parental role in the raising of her great grandchildren. Retta was a blessing to her. She instilled many amazing traits in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. As a devout Christian, she lived her life for Christ in everything she did.
Retta was a caretaker; she cared for an unimaginable number of people over the years. She found joy in helping others selflessly and while heartedly. Everyone immediately loved her after meeting her. She helped so many people she did not know simply because it was her calling and God was in her heart. She was truly a blessing to the church and anyone who she came into contact with.
The family of this amazing woman would like to extend their many thanks and much gratitude to the very caring and extended family that Retta gained in the past few years especially the office staff of Dr. M. Sharma, whom knew and loved her as much as we did, The staff members of Florida Hospital of DeLand, and the staff at The Villas Health and Rehabilitation. She spoke so highly of so many of you.
Thank you all for being there with her when we couldn't be, it's appreciated more than we can express.
Willis and Retta were reunited for an eternity together and we will see you again one day.
