Michelle Cashulette Shams, 61, of DeLand, Florida passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 with her husband by her side in Daytona Beach, FL.
Daughter of the late Irene B. and Charles G. Cashulette of DeLand, she was born on March 2, 1956 in Madison, WI. She moved to DeLand in 1967, graduated from DeLand High School in 1974, and earned a degree in organizational management from Warner Southern College.
Michelle was a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley for 35 years, and recently retired. She had a long history of community involvement, including Rotary, Junior Service League, Republican Club, and the Chamber of Commerce, among many others. She recently served on the board for St. Barnabas Episcopal School. She was a member of The Krewe of Amalie.
Michelle was deeply devoted to family, friends, and her Christian faith. She will be remembered for her bright smile, intellect, quick wit, creativity, and concern for others. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, and recently completed a tour of the Baltics.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Taleb Shams; sisters, Lisa Cashulette (Al Hammock), and Amy Cashulette Flagg (son Keenan); brother, Charles R. Cashulette (Mary, and daughter Rachael). She is also survived by a large, extended family of many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Lankford Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2017, 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of DeLand, with Father Brian Garrison officiating. Burial will follow at DeLand Memorial Gardens.
